In the world of high-end automotive auctions, few events rival the prestige of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. This year, Broad Arrow Auctions is set to elevate the experience even further, curating an exclusive BMW-only sale as part of its inaugural European auction. Taking place on the evening of May 24, this celebration of BMW’s unparalleled legacy will feature some of the marque’s most sought-after collector cars, spanning nearly 70 years of automotive excellence.
Hosting this special auction is a fitting tribute to BMW’s long-standing role as the steward of the renowned Concorso. According to Joe Twyman, VP of Sales for the EMEA Region at Broad Arrow, the event will showcase “some of the very best cars from BMW’s illustrious history, including both classic and modern icons, as well as legendary motorsport racers.” This exclusive evening sale is poised to bring an exciting new dimension to one of the world’s most distinguished concours events.
Among the highlights is a breathtaking 1958 BMW 507 Series II Roadster, an automotive masterpiece that embodies elegance and exclusivity. Originally owned for nearly half a century, this rare gem remains one of the most collectible BMWs ever produced, celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. With its sleek silhouette and mid-century charm, the 507 is a passport to the most prestigious driving and concours events around the world.
For those drawn to the adrenaline of motorsport, the auction also presents a 1980 BMW M1, a landmark in BMW’s racing lineage. Created by BMW’s famed M division, this mid-engine marvel was originally delivered to music producer Frank Farian, who commissioned BMW Motorsport to enhance it with striking Procar-inspired modifications. With its flared wheel arches, custom bodywork, and period-perfect upgrades, this M1 is a collector’s dream that bridges the gap between road and race.
Adding to the allure, a stunning 2000 BMW Z8 an homage to the legendary 507 will cross the auction block. Designed by Henrik Fisker, the Z8 pairs retro aesthetics with cutting-edge performance, featuring a 4.9-liter V8 engine derived from the E39 M5. This particular example, finished in Titanium Silver with a bold Sport Red and Black leather interior, represents the perfect blend of nostalgia and modern-day engineering.
With additional models, including a second 1981 BMW M1 with an illustrious ownership history, this auction is shaping up to be an unforgettable showcase of BMW’s finest. “These wonderful cars are just a taste of what is to come,” says Twyman, hinting at more surprises yet to be unveiled.
Broad Arrow Auctions’ inaugural sale at Villa d’Este is more than just an auction it’s a celebration of automotive artistry, a rare opportunity for collectors to acquire some of the most coveted BMWs ever produced. As the sun sets over Lake Como, the stage will be set for an evening of elegance, history, and unparalleled craftsmanship. For those with a passion for BMW, this is a moment not to be missed.
