Elevated and Electrified Range Rover ‘Safari’, inspired by 007.

A 1983 short-wheelbase Range Rover Safari is the newest upgraded electric classic vehicle that Lunaz has to offer. In contrast to the fixed-roof vintage electric Range Rovers that Lunaz has previously improved, James Bond's open-top vehicle from the 1983 movie Octopussy has received very different treatment.

Significant reinforcement has been added to the body and chassis to preserve strength and stability in the absence of a roof and to provide the upgraded, all-electric drivetrain with a sturdy foundation. The original external coachwork remains the same despite the notable structural enhancements. The client requested that this project be done in a unique shade of "Maya Blue" with a dark blue mohair convertible hood.

For the customer, the car's interior and appointments were its main attraction. As a result, this vehicle has undergone the most extensive interior modification of any Lunaz-upgraded vehicle; it is now completely different from the original. Significant ergonomic and technological advancements are included; Lunaz can learn a lot from this, as there are currently 50 construction slots available for electric Range Rover Classics, all of which will profit from these developments.

An expanded 3D printed console that was created, developed, and produced internally over a two-year period has replaced the original Spartan dashboard and interior. All next Lunaz-added electric Range Rovers will have this design.

The composite central console has digital controls for the contemporary air conditioning and heating system, USB-C connections for device charging, and an infotainment screen with support for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also doubles as the display for the reverse camera. The large piece features a weatherproof glossy lacquer finish over rich Mocca Walnut wood that has been updated.

The car's seating has also undergone a comprehensive makeover to enhance ergonomics, comfort, and looks. The driver's and passenger's seats are heated and made with special cushioning meant for the repurposed Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars made by Lunaz. With the addition of a second material type and the brand's iconic fluting, every seat has been retrimmed in soft yet durable leather. A unique waterproof and chlorine-resistant cloth was chosen for the Range Rover Safari; its knitted construction is reminiscent of the durable jackets found on sports estates. Over a thousand hours of planning and manufacturing went into the inside alone.

375 horsepower are produced by the 280 kW powerplant, which has been customised to the owner's specifications. In addition to the noticeable increase in power, the electric drivetrain emits no pollutants, which is a significant improvement over the 360 g/km CO2 that the original V8 engine produced.

The Range Rover Safari by Lunaz has been equipped with six- and four-piston disc brakes mounted to the front and back, respectively, regenerative braking, and adjustable dampers and custom springs to handle the extra torque. The 500mm segment-defining wading depth and the original approach, breakover, and departure angles of the vehicle are retained.

This commission keeps on the trend that Lunaz has emerged as a hub for the next generation of vibrant, young entrepreneurs in sustainability and green technology worldwide. Over the course of the last three years, an increasing number of these people have found their way to the brand, which not only unites their personal and professional interests but also exposes them to a distinctive peer group.
