Feadship: Hybrid Electric Project 1012 prepares for sea trials.

Project 1012 was planned and constructed for a repeat Feadship owner who came to the bespoke project with educated requirements based on his extensive expertise in yachting. Sinot & owner associated design office was responsible for the design, and Feadship De Voogt Naval Architects was responsible for the naval architecture. The owner's opinion was taken into careful consideration during the design process of the outside architecture. The interior will be a family home that is exquisitely made and precisely designed, leaving no room for embellishment.

Having a length of 91.80 metres, the yacht has a modern-classic personality thanks to its crisply chamfered exterior lines and its flared bow, which is more conventional in nature. Despite her size, there are cosy spaces inside that the family can use. Every single part of the boat is constructed out of natural materials and finishes.

One of the reasons the owner made the decision to construct this boat was so that he could have a beach club in the stern that was larger. In fact, the beach club that is part of Project 1012 takes up an entire quarter of the overall length of the lower deck. Additionally, the extremely large fixed stern platform, in conjunction with two fold-down platforms, creates 165 square metres of water-level lounging area.

There is a side-loading garage located between the engine room and the beach club. This garage has space for two tenders measuring 10 metres, a ski boat, and a variety of equipment for the water. There is a galley, a crew mess, and well-appointed crew accommodations, which are located forward.

The main deck aft, which is home to a sizable pool and an open-air salon that is shaded by the deckhead overhang, may be reached directly from the stern platform by means of sweeping stairs on each side of the platform. There are luxurious staff rooms and comfortable guest suites located on the main deck ahead. These cabins are decorated to a high standard. The top decks are home to not just the master suite but also the family lounge and the spa area. A forward-facing sofa and sun loungers are located on the sundeck, which acts as a strategic observation vantage point. On the other hand, the aft deck is used for the storage of two rescue tenders.

A cutting-edge Feadship technology has been used in the development of the propulsion plant and onboard energy management systems for Project 1012. She is capable of carrying a complete Hybrid Electric Class designation and is equipped with two main engines and shaft-driven fixed pitch propellers. Additionally, she is equipped with PTO/PTI electric motors that are each 560 kW in power and 1 MW of Li-ion batteries.

In addition to the typical diesel propulsion mode, the e-motors may also function as shaft generators to create energy that can be used to serve the hotel loads or fill the battery bank. Additionally, they can be used for low-speed navigation while the generators or batteries supply the necessary electrical power.

“Working with the experienced owner, designer, and owners team has been a professional pleasure," says Albert Abma, Feadship project manager. “Gathering the operational experience of the owners team with the yard’s building experience has resulted in this modern-classic, state-of-the-art and full custom new Feadship”.
