Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari Enzo: An Exceptional and Exclusive Sale.
On June 8th, MonacoCarAuctionsTM, in collaboration with Top Marques Monaco, will host the first-ever L'AstaRossaTM auction at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. The sale will include more than 40 of Maranello's greatest vehicles. One of the most desirable items up for bid is a Ferrari Enzo that once belonged to two-time F1 world champion Fernando Alonso's personal collection.
The Enzo is often regarded as the original hypercar because of its striking appearance, legendary performance, and beautiful engine sound. The Enzo used a carbon fibre and Nomex honeycomb monocoque chassis with a brand new six-litre V12 engine capable of reaching a red line of 7,800 rpm, following in the footsteps of the illustrious Ferrari 288 GTO, F40, and F50. Both parts depended on resources made available by Ferrari's legendary Formula One effort. The car's 3.1-second 0-100 km/h time and peak speed of almost 350 km/h still stand today, more than 20 years after it was first introduced. The Rosso Corsa-painted Enzo has a "Scocca n.1" (first body) designation in its Ferrari Classiche red book and has been driven a mere 4,800 kilometres (2,500 miles) since it left the factory. It is projected to sell for more than €5,000,000 on auction night.
The Enzo is accompanied by a one-of-a-kind Felber Ferrari 365 GTC/4 "Beach Car" by Michelotti as they make their way around the block. Chassis #16017 was originally sold in Switzerland to renowned surgeon and professor Frédéric Saegesser in 1972. Saegesser kept the car until 1975, when he sold it to Swiss automaker and Ferrari retailer Willy Felber. The Michelotti company in Turin, Italy, made a unique "Beach Car" body for Felber. The previous Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani, was the intended recipient of the denim blue and sky blue painted vehicle. Nevertheless, because to the oil crisis in the Middle East, chassis #16017 was never sent there. Then, Felber and Michelotti repainted the car a metallic bronze and brought it to the 1976 Geneva Motor Show to showcase it on the coachbuilder's booth (estimate: €650,000-1,500,000).
A classic alloy-bodied Ferrari 250 GT Boano from 1956 is also up for auction at L'AstaRossaTM. Pinin Farina designed the automobile, but owing to a shortage of workshop space, the company was unable to commit to building any of them. Carrozzeria Boano was given the go-ahead to mass-produce the design they were given. Boano complied, however, he made one tweak. Pinin Farina's signature haunch above the rear wheels was toned down, creating the illusion of a lower belt and roofline compared to a regular 250. This Azzuro Metallizzato 250 GT Boano is one of just 14 made by the coachbuilder and has a racing pedigree thanks to its participation in the 1956 Nassau Grand Prix (estimate: €1,300,000–€2,000,000).
Estimated to sell for between €750,000 and €950,000 is a 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO in Rosso Corsa with a Grigio Titanio top (one of several Ferraris up for auction). Other lots up for bid include a 1964 Ferrari 330 GT2+2 that has seen very little usage since its thorough restoration (estimate: €320,000–370,000), a 1988 Ferrari 328 GTS Koenig, and a 2017 Ferrari 488 GTB converted for use by Lapland Ice Drive.
