Fifteen Eleven Design Unveil Porsche 914 Recreation.
Prestige automobile manufacturers and restoration company Fifteen Eleven Design have opened the order books for their customised Porsche 914, a modern take on the air-cooled vintage car, some three years after initially unveiling the project.
The company, which has its headquarters in Bakewell, Derbyshire, is the classic and prestige arm of 12-time FIA World Rally Championship champion Mellors Elliot Motorsport. More recently, the company has been in charge of a wide range of projects, including the restoration of Alan Jones' Williams FW07/04 F1, the production of Ford Escort MK1 Speedster Restomods, and the second-place finisher Maserati 3500 GT Inezione at Salon Privé.
The Fifteen Eleven Design Porsche 914 Restomod has been meticulously rebuilt with a plethora of modern innovations that precisely correspond with the model's original charm and character. It was first introduced in 2021 to critical praise.
The mid-mounted, six-cylinder boxer engine, which provides the renowned Porsche soundtrack, has been mated with a Porsche 987 Cayman S basis to create the mid-engined, Targa-topped roadster. In addition to steel internals, forged pistons, a Life Racing ECU, and a power management system, the 3.8-litre engine has undergone substantial modification to provide between 380 and 400 BHP, providing a total of nearly three times the performance of the factory original.
Reiger three-way adjustable coil-over shock absorbers, often seen on World Rally Cars, are mounted inside Cayman-based suspension designs and provide the handling and ride. The engine is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox unit, providing the best delivery over the rev range.
Porsche Brembo four-piston callipers with cross-drilled, vented discs and a floor-mounted AP Racing pedal box provide stopping force. In keeping with the history of the company's sibling business, Mellors Elliot Motorsport, in the World Rally Championship, there is also a custom fuel cell with an FIA-compliant bladder.
A fly-by-wire throttle, a custom stainless exhaust system, 18-inch Fuchs wheels, and Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tyres are further highlights.
The Porsche 914 chassis has been completely reworked under the bodywork, yet it still retains all of its original qualities. The whole shell has been reinforced and made stiffer to accommodate the Cayman architecture, and the structural strengthening of the chassis has been provided using T45 tubular tubes.
Custom carbon fibre body panels are placed on top. They have been enlarged to improve appearance and footprint, and they come with a sleek new bonnet and bumper to help with radiator and oil package cooling. The vehicle now has a rear ducktail spoiler, projector LED headlights to light the path, and distinctive driving lights in the "Moby Dick" design.
The inside of the Porsche is as elaborate, with custom leather encircling the cockpit and Recaro seats providing the highest level of luxury. A redesigned bulkhead provides more legroom, and the reconstruction is truly one-of-a-kind due to a number of distinctive features.
Order books are now open for this exciting new Porsche model. Each order is made to the customer's specific requirements, including colour and trim, and is available in either left or right drive.
“Our vision has finally become a reality,” says Managing Director of Fifteen Eleven Design, Ben Mellors.
“The Fifteen Eleven Design Porsche 914 has taken longer than we expected, but it's not an exaggeration to say that we have strived for and delivered perfection in every area of the build; that of course takes time.”
“It's stunning to look at, but also to drive, and we are proud to have brought together some of the latest technologies available, alongside some tried and tested classic elements, to produce the ultimate Restomod for both driving experience and aesthetics.
“We have had a huge interest in the car to date, but finally being able to unveil it to the public is the culmination of years of hard work and dedication. It's been a passion of the entire team, and I believe that shows within every inch of the car”.
Order books are now open for the Fifteen Eleven Design Porsche 914.
