People are Living Longer, Happier, Healthier Lives … by Playing Golf!
The R&A has released studies showing that golfers have a lower risk of death and a higher quality of life. The physical benefits of golf are numerous, and the survey found that golfers live an average of five more years than non-golfers. Up to 40 major chronic illnesses, such as diabetes, heart disease, stroke, breast and colon cancer, depression, and dementia, can be prevented or treated by taking this supplement.
In a poll of 250 golfers throughout the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, the overwhelming majority mentioned "mental well-being" as their motivation to play. Golfers spend a lot of time outside, which has been shown to improve their mental health, especially as they age.
Ex-professional cricketer Ray Jennings, who played for South Africa, is a keen golfer and has a home overlooking a golf course in Mauritius at Heritage Villas Valriche. Testifying about the health benefits of golf, he says: “I am 69 but feel 21! I play golf three times a week and it boosts my energy, keeps my mind sharp and helps reduce stress. It’s important as you get older to find something you love doing and by following your passion you keep a positive mind and stop thinking about your aches and pains. For me spending time outside, in a beautiful natural environment, intensifies the pleasure of golf. Playing in Mauritius I can enjoy the sea views and lush greenery, it’s heaven.”
More people, especially women, appear to be picking up the game because to the health advantages. Female golfers made up 20% of the adult population in 2022, up from 15% in 2019.
In 2022, the number of people playing golf increased even further, and it is now higher than it was before the epidemic. According to the numbers, 2017 was the second biggest year in almost 30 years for the number of adult golfers who teed off on nine- or 18-hole courses. From the year 2021 until now, that figure has risen by 265,000.
Communities built around golf courses provide residences with what appear to be secret health benefits, as well as prime placement next to immaculate greens as a result of the game's rising popularity.
Christophe Piquet, Sales and Marketing Director at the golf community Heritage Villas Valriche in Mauritius, says: “Buyers are drawn to buy here as they want to have a healthy lifestyle, surrounded by nature, and have easy access to the golf course. It has many social benefits as well, with owners able to enjoy each other’s company and some friendly competition on the course.”
Located in Bel Ombre, Mauritius, the luxurious Heritage Villas Valriche provide breathtaking views of the nearby Le Château Golf Course. Designed in part by legendary golfer Louis Oosthuizen, La Réserve Golf Links is scheduled to open in December 2023. The course is sure to draw in golfers of all skill levels.
In addition to the villas themselves, residents have access to a state-of-the-art fitness centre and lap pool, a private beach club, and two five-star hotels on the water's edge, each with its own spa, restaurants, and bars, perfect for sampling the many facets of the tropical art of living.
