The Kagem emerald mine in Zambia is home to some of the most remarkable emeralds in the world, and Gemfields, a global leader in the ethical mining and marketing of coloured gemstones, has the majority stake in the mine. The purity, size, and deep green colour of Zambian emeralds make them highly desirable. Various designs incorporating Kagem's emeralds—often set with diamonds or tanzanites—are showcased in the partnership. Necklaces and earrings in the collection feature delicate floral motifs. For example, the Sugarloaf Long Emerald Chain necklace has sugarloaf-cut emeralds and diamonds that form a delicate floral tapestry, while the Waterlily Emerald and Diamond Earrings painstakingly depict small waterlily flowers. Having grown up in India in a family of textile merchants, Shruti Sushma began her career in jewellery creation 25 years ago with a passion for gemstones and an absence of formal education. Her inquisitive daughter Shruti soon followed suit, and the two soon found themselves jet-setting throughout the country to meet with customers and participate in trade events. The year 2008 saw the launch of their first showroom. With their delicate, wearable approach that is lighter on metal than traditional Indian style, their creations have reimagined Indian fashion.
