Soneva Fushi: Inspiration Awaits

The ‘greatest literary show on earth’, the legendary JLF Soneva Fushi is making its inspiring return to the Maldives from May 12 – 21, 2023, with a captivating programme of world-renowned author sessions, gala celebrations and live performances, set against the idyllic island backdrop of Soneva Fushi. The award-winning luxury resort has once again partnered with the Jaipur Literature Festival producers Teamwork Arts to host a dazzling celebration of art, music and literature, and bring together a community of authors, book lovers and thought leaders from around the world.

Spread across ten days and two weekends, JLF Soneva Fushi will illuminate South Asia’s vibrant literary legacy, welcoming an exceptional global line-up of acclaimed authors and thinkers to take part in stimulating panels and workshops, book and poetry readings, film screenings and more. Embracing the spirit of hope, community and vitality that literature gives to readers, the festival’s wide-ranging themes are designed to provoke thought and debate.

Edged by tranquil turquoise waters and blanketed by lush rainforest, with a luxurious, barefoot ethos and focus on rare guest experiences, Soneva Fushi provides a magical setting for the festival programme. Start each day with morning yoga and meditation sessions, bathed in the rays of the rising sun; expand your horizons through beachside discussions with the sand between your toes; take in a thought-provoking film at the open-air Cinema Paradiso; and rediscover the joy of live performance under evening skies aglow with a million stars.

Championing the freedom to express and engage in thoughtful dialogue, JLF Soneva Fushi’s speakers represent a diverse mix of the world’s greatest writers, thinkers and cultural leaders. The growing list includes festival co-director and award-winning author Namita Gokhale; Man Booker Prize winner Howard Jacobson; Booker Prize-winning novelist and playwright Damon Galgut; British historian Simon Sebag Montefiore; acclaimed astronomy and physics professor Priyamvada Natarajan; and celebrated author and festival co-director, William Dalrymple.

With expansive private villa accommodation (which comes complete with your very own Barefoot Guardian to tend to your every need), ranging from one-bedroom hideaways to a nine-bedroom sanctuary, every festival stay is utterly bespoke, tailored to you – from delectable dining showcasing the finest cuisines to the choice of one-of-a-kind experiences and activities designed to enrich and enthral.

Feeling inspired? JLF Soneva Fushi runs from May 12 – 21, 2023, with exclusive rates for festival-goers, inclusive of full access to the entire programme, luxurious private villa accommodation, daily full board at selected dining destinations and complimentary round–trip wheeled plane domestic transfers. Soneva Fushi can be easily reached through Velana International Airport in the capital Malé, or Maafaru International Airport in the Noonu Atoll.
