The Amels 80 is a design that will not age.

The final journey for the first Amels 80 is now underway. The new hull and superstructure, measuring 80 metres (261 feet) in length, was seen outside of her hull construction building for the first time since March 2022, when the concept was introduced. Now, preparations are being made for her voyage to Damen Yachting's primary facility in the Netherlands, where she will be outfitted.

On schedule to be delivered to her new owner in 2025, this next-generation Amels Limited Edition is the first of the most current designs to be introduced, continuing the history of the 50+ Amels Limited Editions delivered to date. Burgess has been representing the owner throughout construction since they sold the boat a year ago.

“The Owner is enthusiastic and forward thinking when it comes to his yachting needs and our team has worked closely with him and Damen Yachting to realise his vision. Taking the Amels Limited Editions platform as a superior baseline, the Owner has embellished the design in specific areas making the yacht a truly custom vessel. The collaboration between Damen Yachting, their sub-contractors, designers and Burgess has been a joint and rewarding process that will make this first Amels Limited Editions stand out amongst her peers and set the benchmark for future yachts. We are proud to be involved in bringing this yacht to successful delivery for a visionary Owner,” says Sean Bianchi, Partner - Head of Burgess New Construction, Naval Architect.

Damen Yachting's Project Manager, Romke van der Linde explains what this milestone means for the yard and all those involved in the project. “This Owner is positive, driven and passionate and it is great that we can realise this dream for him and be at the forefront of shipbuilding. What we are creating incorporates over a century of yacht building expertise and the experience gained from the Amels Limited Editions evolution – a process I have always been proud to be a part of. Today is a huge milestone in the history of our Amels Limited Editions and I can't wait for her to arrive in Vlissingen and watch her evolve into the very special superyacht she is set to become."

The Limited Editions superyachts from Damen Yachting have been refined over many years and now represent the pinnacle of the company's product development efforts. In 2019, Amels added the Amels 60 and the largest Limited Edition yacht to date, the Amels 80, to their lineup, with the traditional Limited Edition designs still being a solid favourite of many.

Espen Ino, the ship's designer, was inspired by the Amels spirit as he crafted a sleek and contemporary façade. The use of eco-friendly components and cutting-edge hybrid technologies is key to the design aesthetic of the future.

“The Amels 80 is a design that will not age. Her modern strong lines will look as good in 10 years as the day she is delivered. She is a big ship, full of features, with an impressive interior volume. She is everything and more that you would expect from an 80-metre yacht. There is a sense of scale, and nothing is wasted,” explains Espen Øino.

The first Amels 80 will arrive in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, from her build plant in Galati, Romania, for outfitting later this year. Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design was in charge of creating the yacht's unique interiors. In keeping with the spirit of the Amels Limited Editions, the Amels 80's owner has taken advantage of the semi-custom platform and chosen an interior with a layer of loose furniture and decorative pieces that bear his or her own stamp.

“It’s a very neutral and natural palette,” explains Paul Costerus, Lead Designer at Sinot. “Materials are treated so that the natural characteristics remain as pure as possible. The style is distinctive and allows the Owner to customise and add their personal style.”

The Amels 80 boasts a Waterside Beach Club that opens on three sides, a Wellness & Spa, an Owner's Deck, and enormous framed windows providing panoramic views from the Main Deck. The Sun Deck is an astounding 200 square metres (2,153 square feet). In addition to a landing pad for a helicopter, the yacht can hold a wide variety of boats and toys.
