Top Marques Monaco: Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari Enzo sold for €5,400,000

After the end of its first L'AstaRossa sale held in collaboration with Top Marques Monaco Show earlier this month, MonacoCarAuctions™ has shared that the auction house has enabled the €5,400,000 sale of Fernando Alonso's magnificent 2002 Ferrari Enzo.

The Enzo, which was immediately sold from the two-time Formula One World Champion's private collection, is regarded as the hypercar that gave rise to the genre. The automobile became an immediate classic thanks to its daring design, renowned performance, and beautiful engine sound. The Enzo used a carbon fibre and Nomex honeycomb monocoque chassis with an all-new six-litre V12 engine with a redline of 7,800 rpm, following in the footsteps of the coveted Ferrari 288 GTO, F40, and F50. Both components rely on the knowledge and resources Ferrari's legendary Formula One programme provided. The 3.1-second 0-100 kph time and peak speed of more than 350 kph still hold up against many contemporary performance vehicles today, more than 20 years after the car was first debuted.

The Ferrari Classiche red book and the respected ownership of Alonso's former Enzo both attest to the fact that it is "Scocca n.1," the first body ever made. The automobile has only 4,800 kilometres on it and is being offered right after a thorough inspection that its previous owner ordered.

Those attending the auction both in person and online were shown an exclusive video message from the Formula One star, congratulating the prospective new owner on their sensational purchase. Alonso said: “It means a lot to me, and I’ve had a great time with the car – it’s a magic piece of art. I know that it’s going to be in good hands… Please take care of the car and enjoy it.”

Speaking of the Enzo sale, Laurent Blomet, Founder and Director of MonacoCarAuctions™ said: “The sale of Fernando Alonso’s Enzo is the icing on the cake of what has been a very successful first auction. Achieving such a strong figure for a car with such provenance, on top of some excellent results across sales, further demonstrates our ability to achieve market-leading prices. Congratulations to the new owner on their special acquisition.”

The L’AstaRossa auction was also notable for the €1,512,000 sale of a race-run 1956 Ferrari 250 GT Boano – a record for such a car at a public auction. The one-of-14 alloy-bodied coupe, built for Ferrari by Carrozzeria Boano, competed in the 1956 Nassau Governor’s Trophy with prominent customer racer, Jan de Vroom, at the helm. Other highlights included a 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO, which sold for €784,000, while a 1975 Ferrari 246 GTS and a 2009 Ferrari 430 Scuderia 16M each sold for €448,000 on the night.

N.B. All sale prices include auction fees.

Top Marques Monaco will be back in 2024.
