The second model scheduled to debut since the brand’s renewal has received its official name and early design information from intelligent, all-electric luxury car manufacturer smart. A stunningly agile and cutting-edge SUV coupé, the new smart #3 is an all-electric vehicle.
The Mercedes-Benz worldwide design team was responsible for the exterior and interior styling of the smart #3, just like the smart #1. The exterior of the smart #3 is genuinely unique, combining sportiness and dynamism with grace and beauty through athletic curves and seamless, seamless lines. The end product is an emotionally charged, vibrant, and energetic design.
“This muscular, yet elegantly sensual and perfectly balanced attraction of opposites makes the design an important milestone in the evolution of smart’s premiumness’ core value,” said Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer of Mercedes-Benz AG. “The design of the #3 is emotionally confident, attracting and even thrilling the viewer.”
The style is emphasised even more by a number of distinctive details. Slimmer LED headlights are combined with a powerful “shark snout” and an A-shaped wide grille up front. A smooth, continuous e-line connecting the A-pillar and C-pillar joins the prominent two-tone roof on the sides to form an elegant and sporty fastback silhouette. Large, striking alloy rims add a strong element, and scooped cooling ducts make it clear that performance is the goal.
Dirk Adelmann, CEO smart Europe, said: “After launching the smart #1, we are excited to present the second model since our rebranding: The smart #3. It will be unveiled at Auto Shanghai and the car will be a vital element of our product portfolio that enables us to further shape urban mobility.”
From the back, the rear fender and bumper, the big spoiler, and the C-pillar make a strong curve on the Smart #3. The style has both high-end and increasingly modern features, like taillights with pixelated parts, and a sporty look.
