Largely regarded as the Mediterranean season opener, this is a boat show that’s gone from strength to strength, and this year expanded to a second location with its ‘Superyacht New Build Hub’ – an additional dock dedicated to the designers and builders of the world’s finest sailing superyachts.
Focussed on brokerage opportunities, the main Show presents an incredible selection of yachts for sale. One such vessel was the St Barth 85 Fly, which is listed for sale with Moravia Yachting and was making its international debut at the four-day event.
A bespoke build from the St-Barth Yachting Shipyard in the Netherlands, this 26m motor yacht is packed full of superyacht-style amenities, including a foredeck Jacuzzi, expansive flybridge with enormous sun pads, a professionally equipped galley, and sizeable aft transom for stowage of the tender and toys.
Registered under 24m, the boat appeals to owners who like to helm themselves, and those looking to benefit from her charter potential.
For Frank Bart, founder of St-Barth Yachting, it was the desire to build his own 75-foot boat – perfectly attuned to his own requirements – that led to creation of the shipyard. “I began with an idea in 2D, and then we worked with Wijk Naval Architects to develop that into 3D drawings,” explains Bart. “We constructed the hull in Friesland, in Holland, which is a region famed for its shipbuilding, and then fit-out was completed at the St-Barth Yachting facility in Enkhuizen.” This 75-foot model was presented to huge acclaim at the 2023 Cannes Yachting Festival but for many prospective purchasers, what the boat missed was the possibility to accommodate crew – and the idea for the 85 Fly was born.
“The 85 is bigger, but you can still enter every port you want. I think the owner’s cabin is a particularly special feature of the 85, positioned just a few steps from the aft deck and the water, it’s fantastic,” comments Bart.
Compared to vessels of similar size, which are typically from production brands, the St Barth 85 Fly adopts fresh thinking for the layout, which sees the master suite positioned on the main deck with direct access to a lounge with bar counter, and doors to the spacious aft deck.
Sustainability has been part of the design considerations too, and heat produced by the engines and generators is repurposed to heat water onboard – including for the Jacuzzi, which when drained holds the water in a tank below where’s it’s cleaned and purified before the next use.
With this first hull expected to soon be sold, St-Barth Yachting confirm build is commencing on a second model. Contact Moravia Yachting with all enquiries.
