TWR: The V12 Super-GT ‘Supercat’.

The first limited production performance automobile from TWR is currently available for orders. This is in sync with the exterior design's presentation, which will precede its full dynamic premiere in the summer of 2024.

The prestigious Jaguar XJS platform served as the foundation for the TWR Supercat, which has a supercharged V12 engine and over 600 BHP. It marks the beginning of a new line of high-performance vehicles from a legendary manufacturer.

It is appropriate that TWR's first chapter in its modern history is about a Jaguar. In fact, TWR has a long and successful history with Jaguar and the XJS, having triumphed in some of the world's most difficult racing events, such as Spa and Bathurst. To commemorate the 1988 Le Mans victory in the TWR Jaguar XJR-9, a total of 88 Supercats will be manufactured.

The automobile makes a strong statement about the foundations that will support all future TWR concepts that go into production by emphasising bold and modern design and providing an incredibly engaging driving experience.

The performance and racing heritage of TWR are evident in every part of the vehicle. The company's dedication to providing immersive and engaging driving experiences for individuals seeking a really authentic and connected driving experience is seen in the use of a manual gearbox, lightweight materials, and an extensive testing, development, and tuning programme.

Tom Walkinshaw's work on touring cars, Le Mans monsters like the XJR-9, XJR-15, and the XJ220 supercar, as well as other masterpieces from the renowned name's history, have inspired TWR to create this first, historic vehicle.

Officially, order books are open today. In order to reserve a build slot, clients can pay a refundable deposit of £10,000. This allows them to join others who have already committed to reservations after the news of TWR's rebirth. First shipments are scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2024, and production will be kept very limited.

All TWR clients will have the complete option of customising unique builds. Accordingly, prices will range from £225,000 (not including local taxes) to £250,000 (not including taxes), depending on specific requirements.

Team leader and son of TWR founder Tom Walkinshaw, Fergus Walkinshaw, oversaw the engineering of the TWR Supercat. He has assembled an elite team of racing and performance car development heavyweights with exceptional operational and technical skills. This encompasses the following Formula One teams: McLaren, Ferrari, Porsche, Williams, Mercedes, and Renault.

Everything that TWR produces from here on out will be measured against the Supercat series' design, engineering, and development agenda. It has taken over two years of development and hundreds of thousands of man-hours to bring this project to its present production-ready status.

The world's top performance automobile companies, Formula One teams, and performance experts have all used these specialised proving-ground facilities for their testing and development. Aerodynamic, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), durability, and dynamic testing are all part of this, as are tests that mimic extremely dynamic road and track driving situations.

Modern and daring style:

Equally important to the engineering brilliance that has guided the Supercat project to fruition is the world-class design expertise that TWR has lavishly invested in. Design Lead was Khyzyl Saleem's role. His extensive background in performance-oriented OEM projects, particularly those involving the late Ken Block and Travis Pastrana, as well as his position as one of the world's foremost digital and 3D automotive concepting stylists, inform his approach.

“This project is an incredible opportunity to interpret TWR’s winning legacy in today’s design language. In so many ways, my career in the digital and physical realms have been leading to this moment. In merging the requirements of Super-GT form and racing functionality we have created a unique identity that is instantly recognisable from its silhouette. I am proud of the work we have done to bring inspirations from TWR’s performance and racing car history into this extraordinary new design. I cannot wait to work with our clients in shaping their own personal styling requirements for this incredible modern interpretation of a car that deserves its place among the most celebrated examples of British automotive design.” Khyzyl Saleem, Vehicle Designer, TWR

One of the most prominent personalities in modern automotive history, Magnus Walker, who is both a collector and designer, was a consultant on the Supercat project. He was instrumental in realising Walkinshaw's goal of building a car that would stand out from the crowd, have modern TWR credentials, and be based on the Jaguar XJS. His background in collecting, restoring, and modifying legendary sportscars was crucial.

“Fergus and his incredible team are adding to TWR’s legacy by rewriting the rules of contemporary performance GT design. Like every collector and enthusiast, I love the Jaguar XJS as an iconic expression of a British GT. TWR’s uncompromising approach to delivering pure performance and driver involvement takes this to another level. I couldn’t be more proud to have contributed to this landmark statement of TWR’s bold future.” - Magnus Walker, Design Consultant, TWR Supercat

A more muscular appearance is the end outcome, cloaking the Jaguar XJS's famous profile, outline, flying buttresses, and front graphic. This outcome exemplifies TWR's goal of bringing to market a dynamic Super-GT that can handle both road and track conditions with ease. Alluding to legendary Jaguar models such as the XJR-15, XJR-9, and XJ220, TWR subtly pays homage to the brand's lengthy history with Jaguar while also creating a more aggressive overall appearance.

When the car's spectacular premiere occurs in the summer of 2024, a completely rethought inside will be shown.

Even though the Supercat takes design cues from the Jaguar XJS, every external panel has been reshaped using carbon fibre. The use of racing engineering concepts is evident in the material choices, which will be the defining feature of all TWR products going forward. On its own, the body's development required tens of thousands of hours.

By doing so, we have achieved considerable increases in stiffness, reduced drag, and weight savings compared to conventional panel materials. If TWR is serious about delivering an engaging and authentic Super-GT experience on the road and track, it must first provide the mechanical dynamic edge.

This brand-new vehicle is the first offering from the modern TWR, which Fergus Walkinshaw and his business partner John Kane founded to carry on the legacy of Fergus's well-known father, Tom, who in the 1980s and 1990s turned the original TWR into a dominant force in motorsport and performance engineering on a global scale.

As TWR's first product for the new millennium, the Supercat serves as a mobile demonstration of the brand's capabilities, combining cutting-edge engineering and production methods with a timeless foundation to produce an item that is at once distinctive, athletic, and unmistakably TWR. Nearly three years have passed since construction began at TWR's Newbury base, which will house the production for this and all future TWR projects.
