Ikos Resorts is the Standard for Eco-Friendly Vacations for All Ages.
From its seven acclaimed all-inclusive beachside resorts in Greece and Spain to its two upcoming 2023 launches, Ikos Odisia in Corfu and Ikos Porto Petro in Mallorca, Ikos Resorts is stepping up its Green Programme and dedication to sustainability. Enveloped in sustainability, each resort is a vision of beauty that promotes eco-friendly and socially responsible practices, including eco-activities and projects for all ages, in the brand's operations and the guest experience.
Among these is the revamped Local Discovery concept, a one-of-a-kind vacation opportunity that lets visitors tour the area in an eco-friendly Tesla, or Dine Out, where they may have supper away from the resort and sample the local cuisine. Ikos provides a Culture Pass that includes museum admission or free admission to local landmarks as part of their commitment to supporting local culture, ecology, and economy.
At its core, Ikos culture is about making sure guests have an eco-friendly stay. Supporting local communities, educating visitors about local biodiversity, and implementing sustainable practices across all activities are all part of our commitment to protecting the environment, both locally and globally. We also work with like-minded organisations and partners to achieve this goal. Ikos supports local farmers, small enterprises, and co-ops by purchasing over 60% of their products from within the country. They also provide fresh, seasonal food to all of their restaurants.
Guests are invited to immerse themselves in the local ecosystems and culture by participating in organised excursions led by knowledgeable experts. Alternatively, they may take advantage of the complimentary Tesla as part of the Ikos Resorts Local Drive Adventure and discover the most picturesque sites in Greece and Spain. Ikos Resorts goes above and beyond by giving its visitors a Culture Pass, which grants them free admission to local landmarks, museums, and hidden temples, preserving the vibrant culture and historical heritage of its locations. By providing the Dine Out experience, Ikos ensures that visitors may enjoy a complimentary evening out and dine like locals, boosting the surrounding economy and supporting local businesses.
The Little Gardeners missions at Ikos Resorts involve making crafts out of discarded materials or leaves and flowers, and other nature-based activities supervised by experienced staff members are available to the younger visitors. A new kids club called Heroes Village has been launched at Ikos Andalusia, the group's first property in Spain. Here, kids can learn about Spanish culture and traditions while having hours of creative fun with sustainable activities. In 2023, Ikos Oceania and Ikos Olivia introduced a new World of Insects where little guests could see how tiny giants like bees and dragonflies keep life on Earth going.
Little guests may become eco-warriors and learn to reduce, reuse, and recycle via a variety of green activities, which will inspire them to take care of the earth. Ikos Andalusia hosts cooking classes for aspiring young cooks, teaching them the fundamentals of cooking using seasonal, locally sourced products. At the same time, everyone in the family loves the Nature Scavenger Hunts! Children as young as four months old may join in on the fun at the Ikos Crèche, where they are encouraged to be naturally inquisitive and explore, while children between the ages of four and twelve have a blast at the Heroes Village.
Sustainability is an integral part of Ikos Resorts' Green programme, which includes several projects aimed at improving both the hotel's operations and the guest's overall experience. Heat pumps and solar panels are just two examples of the environmentally friendly solutions that Ikos Resorts has invested in as part of its commitment to reduce energy, water, trash, and chemical use. To further achieve the brand's lofty goal of becoming net-zero by 2030, all locations are equipped with 100% certified renewable energy and have a zero-waste project that transforms organic waste.
Electricity usage decreased by about 30% per guest night in 2022 compared to 2021 figures, while the daily collection and management of organic waste from the kitchens exceeded 1.4 tonnes. Furthermore, by implementing circular economy principles, Ikos hopes to lengthen the product life cycle, regenerate and sustain production in an eco-friendly manner, and do things like eliminate single-use plastic from all hotel operations by 2024 and recycle over 20 materials, including cooking oil, plastic, aluminium, and glass.
The mission of Ikos Resorts is to promote economic growth, establish good and lasting sustainable legacies in the communities where they operate, and protect, restore, and improve the quality and health of the environment via sustainable tourism. Ikos recently launched its "Less to Pack, More to Give" initiative, which encourages its global guests to donate items they no longer need, such as clothing and toys, to families in need.
The company has long-standing partnerships with both local and national non-profits, and in 2022, it supported more than 40 organisations and charities. Vacationers may unwind in style while simultaneously improving the quality of life in their chosen location and the world at large.
