Windy Boats – Making waves in the superyacht sector

Combining Scandinavian build quality with genuinely ground-breaking custom design, working in partnership with world-leading superyacht designers and naval architects has been Windy’s recipe for success.

As a renowned constructor of superyacht-quality small craft, Windy made its first foray into bespoke boatbuilding in 2009. The brand’s latest launch, the SLR60, has immediately asserted itself as the flagship of this sports boat builder, and it’s easy to see why.

The SLR60 is extremely capable in all conditions, with a generous flare to the bow and multiple chines on the hull that keep the boat as dry as possible.

The SLR60 came into being at the request of an experienced superyacht owner. Building on the success Windy experienced with their 52-foot SR Blackbird, Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design was commissioned to pen the lines of this new 60-foot superyacht chaseboat, which would accompany the owner’s 60-metre sailing yacht, also designed by McKeon.

The SLR60 is the largest model Windy have built to date and firmly establishes the brand’s position in the superyacht chaseboat marketplace. It’s a powerful vessel with a dynamic personality, and one that can boast an 850 nautical mile range at her 25-knot cruising speed. Topping out at 43 knots, the SLR60 is exhilarating to drive, incredibly responsive and offers impressive acceleration and handling at speed.

The SLR60 will be able to traverse unprotected and open passages of water with ease and with an increased fuel capacity, compared to other boats of her size, this luxury tender has an exceptionally long range.

Speaking of the collaboration, McKeon commented: “We are delighted to have partnered with Windy on this high-profile project. I have known Windy’s Executive Chairman Knut Heiberg-Andersen for many years, and this collaborative opportunity is very special to me. Windy is a strong international brand and Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design is proud to be associated with them.”

The Windy SLR60 has been designed to be the ultimate superyacht chaseboat. Capable of long-distance excursions, the SLR60 will serve as a nimble sports boat for diving and fishing, as well as support shore side exploration.

The contemporary and elegant design features a large swim platform aft of the luxurious guest area and bar, making it an attractive vessel for socialising and enjoying time on the water.

The interior styling of this first model was devised by Liaigre Studio. Below, the SLR60 offers two cabin spaces, one forward and one aft, a galley and day head with shower.

With the first SLR60 model now delivered to its owner, the brand have put the design into production and confirm that several orders have already been placed.
