‘Stars on the Hill – The New Era’
The most popular Greek family resort, Sani, has announced the return of its annual music event, Sani Festival. Sarah Brightman, Bonnie Tyler & Chris Norman, UB40 feat. Ali Campbell, and Tom Odell are just a few of the living legends and internationally famous performers that will be performing during this year's summer of music, which runs from July 15th to August 26th. This year, as in years past, the event will take place atop the enchanted Sani Hill on Halkidiki's Kassandra peninsula, with breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea.
On July 29th, international singer Sarah Brightman will deliver a concert with a live orchestra and choir to kick off the festivities for the year. Sarah Brightman is the most successful female soprano performer of all time, with a voice that spans more than three octaves and a slew of trophies to her credit. Christine Daae's part in Phantom of the Opera was created for her in 1986, and the musical's cast record went on to become the best-selling cast album of all time, selling more than 40 million copies across the world. She's the first classical artist to ever top the dance, classical, and classical crossover charts at the same time. Sarah Brightman's values, including her commitment to working with the UNESCO World Heritage and Sustainable Tourism Programme and her desire to raise awareness about the need to preserve cultural and natural heritage, are congruent with those of the eco-friendly Sani Resort.
The amazing live concert at Sani Festival on July 22 will include pop diva Bonnie Tyler and rock legend Chris Norman. Chris Normal has fronted the famous Smokie, while Bonnie Tyler has sold millions of CDs across the world thanks to songs like "Total Eclipse of the Heart," which stole our hearts. Two genre-bending acts performing back-to-back on the same stage will create the most pulsating energy on Sani Hill.
UB40, one of the most iconic British bands, will perform on August 5 with original lead singer Ali Campbell. During the course of their three-decade long career, UB40 has dominated the British and American music charts with their signature blend of reggae, pop, and rock. If you want to have the best dance party of the summer, you can't miss their live concert on Sani Hill.
On August 12th, composer and singer Tom Odell will bring his unique music and captivating performance to the Sani Festival, symbolising a new generation. Tom has won a BRIT Award and an Ivor Novello Award for his work, and his song "Another Love" topped the charts worldwide.
The opening and closing performances of the Sani Festival, on July 15 and August 26, respectively, will be given by jazz soul vocalist Diane Reeves and famous Norwegian saxophonist Jan Gabarek. Both Diane Reeves and Jan Gabarek have been steadfast supporters of the Sani Festival's "Jazz on the Hill" series with memorable performances throughout the years. Trilok Gurtu, an Indian drummer and composer whose work fuses Indian classical music with jazz, will be performing during Jan's concert.
On August 19th, renowned Greek musician and composer Stavros Xarchakos will lead visitors on a journey through the music and mythology of traditional Greek culture. This one-of-a-kind show connects the past and future of music, both acoustic and electronic. Stavros Xarhakos melds classical music with contemporary instruments in "From the Black Sea to Crete." An historic performance that bridges the gap between traditional music and contemporary performing styles. Onstage, you may hear the voices of Iro Saia, Alexis Parharidis, and Dimitris Apostolakis.
